How do you transfer an ISO 45001 certificate?

IAF Consultancy

An ISO 45001 transfer moves a current accredited occupational health and safety certificate to a new body. Hazard identification, worker participation, and incident records stay with the company. The accepting body checks that the certificate is accredited and valid, then issues its own.

What does the review look at?

It looks at the certificate, the last full audit, and the latest surveillance. Safety scopes are tied to sites and to the work people do, so the site list on the certificate has to match the site list in the reports. Participation is easy to claim in a manual and easy to miss in a report. If the last audit sampled it, the transfer can rely on that sample. If the report is silent, the review may need a visit.

Legal duties sit beside the standard. A company in the middle of a serious enforcement action inside the certified scope should expect the review to ask about it. Leaving it out, and transferring anyway, starts the new certificate on a false file.

Who can issue the new certificate?

SMG is accredited by IAS under MSCB-153 for ISO 45001:2018, within the industry sectors on that accreditation. IAF Consultancy does not hold the accreditation and does not issue the certificate. IAF Consultancy audits, and recommends certification when the review supports it. The recommendation and the certificate are separate steps. Which other standards sit on the same accreditation is in which certificates can transfer.

If ISO 45001 is one of two or three certificates, put each standard on the application. One file is usually calmer than three transfers a month apart. See transferring several certificates.

How do you start while the certificate is valid?

Use the application, choose ISO 45001, and choose Transfer from another body. State the expiry date in the scope notes. The written offer comes back with the scope, the timing, and the price, in time to decide before the current certificate lapses.

The general method is in how to transfer an ISO certificate. What belongs in the folder is in the document list.
