What if your ISO certification body loses its accreditation?

IAF Consultancy

If the body that issued your certificate loses its accreditation for that standard, the certificate may no longer be an accredited certificate. A transfer recognizes an accredited certification. When the accreditation behind it has ended, or is about to end, the review has to establish what remains before anyone treats the file as a paper transfer.

What should you say on day one?

Say it on the application, in plain words. The current body has lost accreditation, has been suspended, or has written that accreditation will end on a date. Include that letter and the certificate. A file that looks routine, and is not, spends the window in which customers still treat you as certified.

Customers check accreditation, not only the PDF. A mark from a body that is no longer accredited fails the check tenders and vendor forms actually run. Speed matters more here than in an ordinary move. The written quote is how you see, quickly, whether a transfer is still available or whether an audit has to replace it.

What can the review still do?

Where a valid accredited certificate still exists, the ordinary transfer review applies. Where the accreditation has already ended, there is often no accredited certification left to recognize, and the company is audited as a new client. Stage 1 and Stage 2 then follow the certification path. Earlier audit reports help the auditor understand the system. They do not stand in for the audit.

A body that is winding down and is still accredited is a different file from a body already removed from the register. The offer distinguishes them. The commercial pattern is in why companies change body.

Who issues the certificate you can show?

SMG holds IAS accreditation MSCB-153 and issues the certificate inside that scope. IAF Consultancy audits and recommends. Apply at the quote form, choose the standard, and describe the accreditation problem in the scope. If several certificates are affected, add each one.
