A transfer recognizes the scope already certified. Widening that scope is a separate job. Sites, activities, or standards you want to add are an extension, and an extension is audited. The two jobs can be quoted on one offer. They stay separate lines.
What can move on the existing record?
The activities, products, and sites written on the current certificate can move, where the reports support them and they sit inside the accepting body's accreditation. Wording can be clarified where it describes the same work. If you cannot point to the same activity on the old certificate, the words are a change.
Taking something off the scope is a change as well, and it should be written down. A site you closed, a product you stopped, or an activity you no longer control comes off in the offer, so the certificate you want matches the work you do.
What has to be audited?
- A new site, including one that follows head-office procedures and has never been on the certificate.
- A new activity, product line, or shift pattern that changes the work inside the system.
- A standard you do not yet hold. That request is an initial certification, even when the certificate beside it is a transfer.
- A design responsibility, an outsourcing arrangement, or an exclusion that was not on the certified scope.
Multi-site detail is in transferring a multi-site certificate. Moving a second standard you already hold is a transfer of each certificate, described in several certificates in one application.
How does the offer show both jobs?
On the application, put the current scope in the scope field and choose Transfer from another body. In the same field, state what you want added or removed. IAF Consultancy separates the review of the existing certificate from the audit of the extension. The written offer shows the days and the price of each. You can accept the transfer and leave the extension for later.
SMG issues the certificate for the scope the decision covers. IAF Consultancy audits. The baseline transfer is in how to transfer an ISO certificate.
